Did you know that Swansea was at the centre of pioneering photography in the early 19th century !!!!!!

Photos's in my Album: young artists and photographers were: Alice, Lottie, Keiran, Beckie, Ashley, Lucy, Natalie, Toby, Emilie, with me and another artist who was helping Fern Thomas.
Workshop's for the Eisteddfod @ Swansea Museum

We started off by looking at albums that were more than 160 years old, they were shown to us by Bernice who is the Conservation Officer in change of the collections, she was the only one who could touch the album, but she bought a replica down to show us, that we could touch.

Then we looked at more family photos that John Dillwyn Llewelyn took, and played with photocopies of the photos and designed different types of albums, and had fun discovereing what albums could be. We do not always make albums now, let alone hardly even develop our photos; they might only get onto the computer these days..........

The children made some fantastic albums, but took away cameras to create their own photos and images; which they will bring back next week, i am really looking forward to see those.

I am sure the chance to stick down and create their own albums, inspired by their own photography will harp back to the wonderful enlightenment of the Dillwyn Family who enjoyed the invention of photography over 150 years ago, in this very city!
